The concept

Northern Trans-Caspian Transport and Energy Corridor

The proposed Gazakh–Ijevan–Vanadzor–Gyumri–Kars axis would connect Armenia to wider Central Asia–Caspian–Europe flows. The concept combines a high-capacity electrified railway with energy and digital links, intermodal terminals and industrial services. It envisages a phased transition towards a unified 1,435 mm railway gauge in Armenia and Azerbaijan, subject to intergovernmental agreement, feasibility studies and arrangements with neighbouring networks.

What the project brings together

01

Connect two complementary corridors

Develop the northern axis alongside Southern TRIPP within a coordinated regional framework, with separate investment projects and implementation schedules.

02

Integrate transport, energy and digital links

Plan railways, terminals, electricity, potential oil and gas transit and digital infrastructure as a connected system.

03

Build shared long-term interests

Support investment, logistics and industrial opportunity while respecting national sovereignty and creating economic incentives for lasting peace.

The intended impact

A vision for Armenia as an international infrastructure hub, connecting continental trade and energy flows with long-term regional cooperation.

This is an ADKARS proposal. Timeframes, investment figures and outcomes in the publications are planning assumptions or targets, subject to further studies and decisions.
